Quest 2: Design a Map or Model of Your Island

Now it is time to design your island. Be creative! Remember this is a newly discovered island which means NO ONE has been there before. Let your imagination run wild with the landforms and bodies of water! You will have two class periods to complete this quest!

Before Jumping In:
Sketch out a rough draft of what you want your island to look like. Label each land form and body of water. Double check your spelling before moving on to your final map or model!

1. Using materials in our classroom: create a map of your island and include key map features.

2. Using materials in our classroom: create a 3D model of your island and label the key geographic features.

Your Map or 3D Model Must Include:
  • At least 2 labeled bodies of water
  • At least 5 labeled landforms
  • A map key or legend
  • A Compass Rose
